On May 18, 1927, the idea of creating the Hollywood Walk of Fame was born. This happened after the American movie star Norma Talmadge accidentally left her footprint on the uncured asphalt. On the Hollywood Walk of Fame in northeastern Los Angeles on February 9, 1960, the first eight stars were installed on the sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street.
These were the stars of famous film actors at the time – Olivia Borden, Preston Foster and others. At present, there are more than 2,600 personal celebrity stars, dozens of new ones are opened every year.
Two years earlier, Harry Thompson and Gordon McWilliams had decided to attract tourists to Hollywood. For outstanding achievements in cinema, theater or radio, celebrities were given a star on the boulevard. Inside – the name of the winner in bronze letters, under which a round bronze emblem indicating the category for which the winner received a star.
They made their proposal public, and it received support. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has selected 1,558 names from the world of radio, television, film and recording, who should be the first winners of the Alley.
The winners of the new rules were to appear on the Walk of Fame during the ceremony, as well as pay a fee for the maintenance of the walk. At present, there are more than 2,600 personal celebrity stars, dozens of new ones are opened every year. “Walk of Fame” is represented by the names of actors, musicians, producers, directors of musical and theatrical groups, fictional and real characters, and many others for their contribution to the entertainment and art industry.
The Alley is managed by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and funded by the Hollywood Historic Trust. You don’t have to be an actor to have your personal Star on the Walk of Fame.
And, as it turns out, you don’t even have to be human. It is enough to make a significant contribution to the film and entertainment industry. There are a lot of country singers on the Walk of Fame nowadays. Let’s see who they are:
